what a day
A good trail run, or even just the promise of a good trail run, was enough to make what on paper seemed like an incredibly hellish day yesterday not too bad at all…and even allowed me to laugh at it all.
The whirlwind 26-hour event began at about 4:00 p.m. Friday as I met Melissa after work to take her to the Albuqueruqe airport, as she would be flying to Chicago Saturday morning before I...
snow!!!
Let me just start out by saying that the last 15 or so hours have been wonderful.
With no snow falling (and sticking), I was in good spirits on my way home from work yesterday. Even had I had my iPod on me, I wouldn’t have used it for the walk home as I normally do becuase I don’t think I have anything on there that I enjoy as much as the sound of snow crunching beneath my feet.
I...
plans, records and bones
Apparently, all three of those things are meant to be broken. After looking at my work calendar for the spring and summer I had planned out my “ideal” race schedule through the month of July. Currently, at least three of those have been shattered at this point (one, however, was due to oversight on my part and I’m not too upset about).
Of course, it had to be within about a week...
back in the saddle again
Well, the two weeks of no running is over. Whew!
Glad I made it through that period without going bonkers, and even a bit surprised that I made it through week numero uno of NO PHYSICAL ACTIVITY with my sanity intact.
I hit the pavement/trails again for the first time since the Sunday post-Thanksgiving at 5:30 a.m. in shorts any my lightweight Salomon jacket. I was a bit concerned that I...
CPTR 50-miler
Well, I just paid the registration for my first race of 2011, though hopefully there will be other races that are added before the one I just signed up for takes place. Mere moments I ago I clicked PayPal’s “Pay Now” button and made my entry into the May 7 Collegiate Peaks Trail Run 50-mile race official.
Given the date of the race, I will be pretty upset if I don’t a...
Why. . .
It’s at about this time every year that I start I start thinking about what races I’d like to try and do in the upcoming year. This leads, quite obviously, to thoughts about training as well, and, on a broader scale, many thoughts about running in general.
Eventually, my thoughts start to get back to the core of the act of running for me, and at ther root of those those thoughts is...
Very, VERY tentative 2011 racing plans
…well, at least through July, this is the “dream” race schedule I have look at and sort of planned out in my mind. Any of this happening is going to depend greatly upon A) funds to get to and enter in these races, B) willingness of Melissa and other supporters to assist me with travel/crewing, and of course C) health. “C” is the big reason I am currently engaging in a...
